School Age

This conversation took place between my two kids.  I was dropping the eldest one, who is five years old, off at school. His three year old brother was a little upset because his older brother was no longer attending daycare with him.

Child: Brandon, why are you leaving me?

Child #2: Because, I have to go to school.

Child #1: Can I go to school with you?

Child #2: Not yet.

Child #1: Why? (clearly disappointed)

Adult: Jeffrey, Brandon is school age.  You’ll be old enough to go to school in two years.

Child: But I want to be a school-ager!
